First step is taking the seeds from the flower. Just take some mature mullein flowers and tap them down to get that the seeds out of them. Do this several times to get all seeds. The seeds are very small and have black color. One mullein head can have like about thousand seeds so that we're not gonna have any trouble getting some seeds that's for sure.
Now you can start them right into the ground or into little trays or containers, it really doesn't matter and an easy rule of thumb is just fill it about 2/3 full of soil and good potting soil is the best with lots of organic material.
Next step is then just sprinkle some seeds into the soil. Now you just want to cover that up just maybe one or two inches and then you want to mist it real well so that it's not going to have a lot of pressure and the seeds will just come out you want to mist it till it's nice and thick.
And the best time to start your seeds is at when it's warmed up a bit. When it's at least 60 degrees outside. Because if you've started them too early they'll try to grow and it'll be cold at night they won't do much. So even if you start them through the summer especially if you start them into July or even later they'll come right up and you'll have a beautiful mullein plant before you know it.
